this pattern keeps repeating
2023: Shaw acquisition approved
As part of the federal approval process, Rogers made the Western Presence Commitment, including creating 3,000 new jobs in Western Canada and maintaining those jobs for at least 10 years.
Since then, a number of changes have unfolded across the company:
Rogers sells 49.9% of its wireless backhaul infrastructure to Blackstone and pension funds for $7 billion
Days later: 400 Wireless roles moved to Ericsson to become contractors
100+ layoffs months later - work sent overseas
retail outlet operations transferred to contractor operators
100+ IT layoffs - work redirected to another contractor
30% capital spending cuts announced (April 22, 2026)
days later: Voluntary Departure Packages to half the workforce (April 27)
warehouse and supply chain workers terminated, told to apply to contractor CTDI to continue the same work (April 29) - unionized roles unaffected
The rogers pattern is crystal clear.
but you can have a say in how this plays out.

Changes to your work have to be handled fairly
